Japan Information Service(JIS)

The Japan Information Service (JIS) provides the following services.

Information Service

• Issue of Press Releases
• Issue of "Chaak Jipun"(four times a year)
  "Chaak Jipun" is a Thai brochure about Japan which consists of 16 pages.
• Lending out Japanese PR videos
• Press tours of Japan's ODA projects in Thailand
• Provision of various materials about Japan, such as "Asia Perspective," "Japan Ecoh," "Nipponia"
• Invitations to Japan for members of the Thai press
• Assistance for Thai journalists' coverage of Japan
• Organizing lectures and seminars

Culture

JIS carries out the following activities to improve cultural relations between Japan and Thailand.

• Cultural exchange projects
• Cultural Grant Aid
• Grass-root Cultural Grant Aid
• Co-sponsorship of Japanese speech contests
• Advises to sporting exchanges

Academic Issue (Overseas Student Advice)

The Embassy of Japan manages these activities every year in order to promote studying in Japan:

• Select and recommend grantees of The Japanese Government Scholarship (approximately 100 persons per year)
• Hold the Japan Education Fair both in Bangkok and local areas.
• Assist and co-operate with Old Japan Students’ Association (OJSAT)
• Organize a social studies workshop in secondary school and high school

Youth Exchange

JIS helps to facilitate the following youth exchange programs between Japan and Thailand.

1. Programs of the Cabinet Office of Japan
   • "The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program"
   • International Youth Development Exchange Program: "Invitation of Foreign Youth to Japan Program" and "Japanese Goodwill Mission"
   • "Asia and Pacific Youth Invitation Program"
2. Programs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan
   • "Youth Invitation Program"
   • "Global Youth Exchange Program"

Local Government Exchange Program

JIS helps to facilitate various exchange programs, including sister city programs, between Japanese and Thai local government administrations.
